George is no stranger to criticism. During his Clippers tenure, fans called him “Pandemic P” when he struggled: a mockery of his “Playoff P” moniker.

Fans brought back the nickname after their first-round 2024 playoff exit vs. Dallas. George had several bad moments during the series.

In Game 3 against the Mavs, the ex-Fresno State forward only scored seven points while shooting 3-11 from the field. In Game 5, his struggles returned, as he finished with 15 points on 4-13 shooting. During LA’s elimination game, George shot 6-18.

Why did Paul George sign with the Sixers?
Fans thought Paul George would stay with the Clippers. His choice to sign with the Sixers surprised many. In a July episode of his show, Podcast P, George shared his decision to move to Philly this summer.

He said the Clippers wouldn’t match his asking price and offered him a three-year, $150 million deal with a no-trade clause. After negotiating, the parties couldn’t agree on a new contract.

Paul George also shared that he’s close with Joel Embiid and the idea of playing alongside the 2023 MVP intrigued him.
