Following his wife Brittany and Taylor Swift’s Donald Trump incident, Patrick Mahomes avoids politics

Patrick Mahomes steers clear of politics after wife Brittany, Taylor Swift’s Donald Trump controversy
Patrick Mahomes is not just the best player in the NFL currently – he has also been its primary catalyst towards recognizing sociocultural change. But when it comes to actual politics, he would rather remain silent right now.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback’s wife Brittany has been facing backlash over her and former President and 2024 Republican candidate Donald Trump’s support for each other.

That only intensified after her good friend Taylor Swift, who’s dating tight end Travis Kelce, announced that she would back Democratic runner Kamala Harris via an Instagram post.

When asked about the situation and whom he would support during Wednesday’s practice, Patrick Mahomes declined to answer:

“I don’t want my place and platform to be used to endorse a candidate or do whatever, either way. I think my place is to inform people to get registered to vote.
“It’s to inform people to do their own research and then make the best decision for them and their family.”
Patrick Mahomes continued:

“Whenever I’m hanging out with whoever, I’m not thinking about their political views. I’m thinking about the people and how they treat other people. … You’ve seen my history.
“I’ve come up with people from every aspect of life, from every background.”
Patrick Mahomes continues to extoll wife Brittany’s contributions to community amidst Trump controversy
What about the backlash that Brittany Mahomes has been receiving for implying that she supports Donald Trump?

That’s also something Patrick Mahimes would rather not address. Instead, he stressed the good things she has done alongside him – especially when it pertains to anything that happens in Kansas City or Texas (where he grew up and played in high school and college):

“At the end of the day, it’s about me and my family and how we treat other people.
“I think you see Brittany does a lot in the community. I do a lot in the community to help bring people up and give people an opportunity to use their voice.”
He continued:

“In political times people are going to use stuff here and there, but I can’t let that affect how I go about my business every single day of my life, and trying to live it to the best of my ability.”
The US Presidential election is scheduled for November 5.
