In a move that could reshape the WNBA landscape, Brittney Griner should sign with the Las Vegas Aces in free agency.  Griner opted for a one-year extension with Phoenix but will be a free agent this offseason. With Diana Taurasi potentially retiring, Griner might see the opportunity to leave Phoenix and join a championship-caliber team led by A’ja Wilson, Kelsey Plum, Jackie Young, and head coach Becky Hammon.

Why Not Phoenix?

Brittney has mentioned buying a new house in Phoenix as a reason that it’s home forever, but Las Vegas is only 4 hours away, so this wouldn’t be a completely different lifestyle change, even if it was only for one year.

Her presence in the paint, combined with her shot-blocking ability and scoring prowess, makes her a perfect fit alongside A’ja Wilson.
