It is devastating for a dog to be abandoned by its family. Some families may be willing to care for sick or elderly dogs, but they do not realize the amount of misery that befalls the dog when it is abandoned.

Ray, an 8-year-old Labrador retriever,  was found wandering alone on the streets  of Torrance, California, after being abandoned by his family. His eyes were sad and he was very skinny after having been hungry on the streets and completely helpless.

Ray’s sad look confirms how much he has suffered on the streets.

In the video we can see Ray on the truck of the Carso Shelter volunteers in California, after being captured on the streets, one thing is obvious:  the look on this Labrador’s face is truly moving.

Sadness is evident in him , as well as some other health problems. His eyes seem irritated, he has discharge, and some of his hair, especially on his tail and hind legs, has dried out, as a result of deep irritation in his skin.

Ray is skinny, sick and above all, very sad.

As if all this were not enough, it is evident that Ray is malnourished and very thin for a dog of his size and build. This led the people who rescued him to believe that the pet had already been living on the streets for quite some time.

If there’s one thing that’s obvious about Ray, it’s his goodness . He’s an extremely sweet and peaceful dog, which is why the volunteers who were tasked with rescuing him from the streets had a hard time catching him.

The shelter volunteers helped Ray regain some of his health , but he remained depressed. It was clear that this was a very sensitive dog and that he needed the warmth of a loving family.

The dog was rescued in early January and before the month was over,  he was ready to go to his new home . The dog was properly fed and given medical treatment, especially for his skin problems.

The Carso Shelter knew the challenge of adopting an 8-year-old dog. Unfortunately, many pets of this age  tend to remain in shelters of this nature until their final days  , waiting for the family that arrives.

I hope that all people learn from dogs to love without greed, although some should stay in the shelter because they are rejected for their age, appearance or lack of health.

However,  Ray’s gaze was the ticket to his happiness.  The dog’s kindness, as well as his irremediable sadness, made that in a very short time Ray was adopted by the right family, thus living his second chance to be happy.

Ray’s love for his children  has changed completely  and even more now that he has come to believe in them again after finding his first family who really loves him the way he deserves, in a truly coveted way.

The sad expression on this little dog’s face represents thousands of abandoned animals  waiting for their chance to share the love of their family. 

Luckily, this little dog had a happy ending and will be able to overcome his past regaining joy and hope.

Everyone deserves to be loved and protected, above all, to have people who care for their well-being and health.
