Tom Brady is set to debut in his new role at FOX on Sep. 8, but as with any new undertaking, there are questions to iron out. One such question has been whether Brady can own part of the Las Vegas Raiders and commentate on games. As fans, analysts and league officials grapple with these questions, one NFL analyst has called for a suitable middle ground.
In an Aug. 30 article on “Pro Football Talk,” NFL analyst Mike Florio called on FOX to reelevate Greg Olsen to the top commentary team.
“Really, if Brady is too selfish to pick a lane between owner and broadcaster, he should be selfless about inviting Olsen in. With Brady necessarily being less prepared without access, Olsen’s presence would make sure the audience is being properly served,” he wrote.

Essentially, Greg Olsen could sub in to fill in on any duties Brady would have a conflict of interest with. This would include pre-game scouting, interviews and some homework that comes with getting ready to talk about new teams every week.
Tom Brady’s first game with FOX wraps two-year wait
In the summer of 2022, the idea of Tom Brady working in a booth one day was merely an idea floated around the NFL zeitgeist. However, by the start of his final season, Brady knew what his post-NFL career would be.
One could argue that since his first retirement following the 2021 season, Brady has been in a transitional phase, changing from one lifestyle to another. With the former quarterback on deck to work for FOX for the next decade, it appears the transition is complete.
Of course, there is the question of whether the former quarterback will stick around in the media world for that long. Plenty of color commentators have tried and failed to stick around in the past like Jason Witten. This keeps at least a slight possibility that his transition could still have plenty more twists and turns left in store.
