Every scene of a mother dog nursing her babies is the most heartwarming thing there is.
But, what could be sweet and adorable, is also the most ignominious and full of evil, when that part has to fight to feed her children.that is, subject to chains, deprived of even the slightest dignity, because of men.
Those of us who love animals know all the kindness and loyalty they are capable of giving. That is why we cannot understand that people without soul and without scruples commit barbarities against these innocent creatures. And when we think we have seen it all, the occasional case of fair treatment with animals makes our hearts shudder.
This is the sad scene with which the victim was found: a 2-year-old dog that had just been given birth, abandoned and tied to a fence with her 6 puppies.
With his head hanging from his chain and the 6 little ones feeding on his body, he could not survive much longer, time was running out…
The desperate mother could be seen searching for something to eat while tied up in a field near the town of Elphi, in Roscommon County, Ireland.
The man hesitated to alert the police and the Irish Society for the Prevention of Animal Cruelty (ISPCA). Both the mother and her puppies were immediately taken to the ISPCA National Animal Centre in London to be assessed.
You need a heart of stone to do something like that, I’m sorry!
Fortunately, vets found that she did not have any serious health problems. But it is not known how long the puppies and mother remained in such lamentable circumstances, and it is something that breaks the heart.
The puppies hadn’t even opened their eyes, they were shivering from the cold.
“Leaving a young dog as young as two years old tied up without water, food or shelter definitely puts her and her puppies at risk. We urge pet owners to spay or neuter their pets as soon as possible to reduce the number of unwanted animals. I don’t understand how anyone could think it’s okay to leave a dog tied up nearby to care for her puppies on her own. “With the recent level of rain and cold weather this week, the outcome could have been much different and I am happy that they have been alerted so we can help them,” said High O’Toole, centre manager for the ISPCA.
“Having a microchip is a legal requirement but the dog did not have one. Our centers are constantly overstretched and with very limited resources, it can take time to find good, responsible homes for the many animals in our care,” she added.
The dog and her little ones remain under the care of the shelter, their images were spread on social networks and since then a wave of anger and indignation has arisen, it is truly something that cannot be understood.
The mother was named Emmy Loυ, while her puppies were named: Billy Ray, Dixie, Dolly, Dotty, Joe and Patsy.
Luckily, they are out of danger and will remain in the care of the ISPCA, where they will find a forever home for them.
