It is estimated that there are 30 million stray dogs in India. Two of them, from the Indian state of Punjab, were separated from their mother in a terrible catastrophe.
A resident heard the dog screaming loudly in a nearby well, where her two puppies fell and became trapped.
When the villager looked further down the well, he spotted something considerably more frightening: a king cobra lying with the two unfortunate animals.
King Cobras are feared snakes with venom deadly enough to kill an adult elephant in three hours.
Snakes, on the other hand, are typically shy animals that avoid interaction with people. There are other smaller venomous snakes in India with potentially more fatal bites.
Snakes don’t normally view dogs as food, but the pups’ mother and rescuers were worried something terrible might happen.
The snake appeared to be defending the cubs rather than attacking them. The snake kept them protected on the opposite side of the well, which had soft, damp earth and could have trapped the young.
The puppies stayed in the well with the snake for 48 hours, and the snake never attacked them.
The authorities found it simpler than planned to rescue the puppies. The snake moved smoothly, allowing them to easily rescue the cubs.
The creatures often demonstrate incredible camaraderie and compassion, especially toward animals of different breeds.
This story, in my opinion, is an excellent illustration of that, and we can certainly learn a lot from it. If you agree, share this post on Facebook!
