TD-02 DJ Khaled’s new album would depict “everything I’ve been through in life” with DJEEP lighters.
DJ Khaled lives by “we the best” more than a slogan.
Celebrating his new relationship with DJEEP lighters, the Grammy-winner told PEOPLE about living a light-your-passions lifestyle and his upcoming album.
Khaled is preparing his 14th album, following 2022’s GOD DID. Though many album elements are still a sеcrеt, the music producer disclosed several interesting features.
“I got two Drake songs and one’s ready to go — both of them are so incredible,” Khaled, 48, tells PEOPLE exclusively. “The new album title is coming very soon as well, and it’s going to be the most powerful album title ever.”
“The other day in the studio with 21 Sаvаge, I said, ‘I feel like I got the hardest 21 Sаvаge verses right now.’” Just one more. Travis Scott. We also did something wild.”
The “All I Do Is Win” singer said the album is about “everything I’ve been through in life.”
“From the beginning to this record, and forward. He says it’s like making his first two albums. “Love of creation changes it. Regardless of the genre, I’ve always made music. I adore making music. It will be huge.”
Khaled claims his bond with Drake—whom he worked with on “For Free,” “Popstar,” “I’m on One,” and “No New Friends”—is larger than music.
“We are brothers in friendship. We interact in many ways. We motivate each other. Tell him he inspires me. He freely credits me with inspiring him. We brothers, not just him. “His family and crew are my team,” he explains.
Khaled adds, “He is gorgeous, talented, and unique. Drake is unmatchable. It’s impossible. It’s impossible. Just like there’s no other Khaled.”
The “Wild Thoughts” singer thought his DJEEP connection was natural.
Anyone who knows Khaled knows he always has a lighter. I flip that lighter whenever I hear one of my major songs. “I flick that lighter when I write a song,” he explains. “I flip that lighter at concerts. I also enjoy golf. I enjoy cigars on the golf course.”
Additionally, “Experience matters. Fire up the passion. It’s about that.”
Where does that passion originate from? Khaled answers simply: “The G-O-D. The God.”
An online video of Khaled being carried by his security officers went viral in February. In the video, two security officers took him from his car to the stage to polish his Air Jordans for the 2024 South Beach Wine and Food Festival in Miami.
Remembering that time, Khaled said “it’s very simple — I love my sneakers.”
“We embrace sneakers as a culture. We want no one to step on our shoes. Our sneakers shouldn’t get soiled. “I wore pre-release Jordans,” he says.
“I said, ‘Man, they got the sand. Don’t get sand on it. He concluded that he would do anything for his teammates and brothers 10 times. “We love each other. We enjoyed ourselves.”
